Animatus News April 2001

Greetings from Animatus!

There’s plenty to talk about in this installment. Several projects have reached completion in the last few weeks.

First is the Flash-animated music video for the DINNER DOGS. Their song, “Totally Me,” encourages kids to be whatever they want to be when they grow up. We took their pre-conceived characters and made them sing, dance, and act out the four minute tune. The band intended to show the video on their website, so Macromedia Flash was the obvious choice to use. Its use of vector graphics make streaming animation over the internet simpler while retaining high quality. Not to sound too bold, but our end product is pretty impressive. See it yourself at http://www.animatusstudio.com/dinnerdogs.

The long awaited SU AND MO episode two is also complete. If you enjoyed tipping the exotic dancers with exotic foods in the interactive first episode, you’ll love their backstage antics in the current story. See them count their tips! See the other dancers get jealous! See the boys hold off mobs of crazed women! It’s more bizarre than you can imagine. Go to http://www.animatusstudio.com/sumo to see either episode.

After months of contemplation, we’ve made the final additions and changes to THE QUEST FOR HAPPY HOUR. The extra-special-edition-producer’s-director’s-cut of this latest “Derf the Viking” cartoon was screened at the Little Theater on March 26. The program that evening consisted of short subjects shown in conjunction with the Rochester and Finger Lakes Film and Video office. RIDIN’ THIS TRAIN, a “Fresh Toone” by Dave Puls of Animatus, was also screened. For more about the film office, log on to http://www.filmrochester.org/.

That’s all for now. Seeya!
