HIGH FALLS FILM FEST UPDATE
Here are several HFFF events that may be of interest those in the Rochester area. In addition to coordinating the Vicki Jenson special event, Animatus is involved with the children’s shorts program. Plus, Animatus intern Shannon Pytlak has a piece in the R.I.T. Shorts Program. If you’re a fan of the animated incarnations of Batman, Superman, and Batman Beyond, you may want to attend the panel discussion with Shirley Walker.
Enjoy!
AN EVENING WITH SHIRLEY WALKER
Presented in conjunction with the Catherine Filene Shouse Arts Leadership Program at the Eastman School of Music
Shirley Walker broke industry ground in 1992 by becoming the first woman ever to score a film for a major studio. The film, MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN, featured not only Walker’s music, but her orchestrations as well—and she conducted the orchestra during the recording sessions, a Trifecta not many composers can match! A Daytime Emmy-winner for her scores for the Batman and Superman animated TV series, Walker composed the scores for BLACK STALLION, MAJORITY RULE, ESCAPE FROM L.A., TURBULENCE, and BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM. Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik will moderate the discussion. FREE.
Thursday, Nov. 6. 5:45 pm
Kilbourn Hall, Eastman School of Music., 26 Gibbs St.
