Animatus News December 2001

Season’s Greetings from Animatus!

When compiling this latest newsletter, it was our intention to crow about our fantastic experience with the High Falls Film Festival. The screenings were well received, and attendees took the opportunity to converse with filmmakers Faith Hubley and Sybil DelGaudio. The Faith Hubley Workshop was a great success as well. Unexpectantly, however, we have learned this week that Faith passed away on Friday, December 7th. Even though we knew her for only a short time, Faith made quite an impression on us. In fact, she made an impression on everyone at the festival. Even those unfamiliar with her work became new fans after the screening of “Our Spirited Earth” and the presentation of the Web of Life Award at the closing gala. She will be missed.

NEW ANIMATUS REEL

We’ve put together a new reel of studio work, presented in a fantastic 3D environment. “The Halls of Animatus” features examples of our work in such diverse fields as: traditional animation, 3D and 2D CGI, stop motion, rotoscoping, morphing, nonlinear editing, logos, characters, web design, and Flash animation. It’s available to view online in the QuickTime format at http://www.animatusstudio.com/html/video_clips.html.

While you’re there, check out a sample of a recent job we did for Crystal Pix. Created for for the Paychex Southwestern Conference in Arizona, the piece features a Native American theme. It was created using a variety of programs, including Flash and After Affects, and composited on our nonlinear edit system. It’s online at http://www.animatusstudio.com/html/video_clips.html.
